The Recent survey says India has beaten the China in Two-wheeler market to claim the number one position in the world. The number of two-wheeler increase on Indian roads, but still electrical scooter is nowhere in the race. Most of the available electrical scooters in India is labeled vehicles. All electrical scooter you could be identified on Indian roads is imported from China and sticker here before selling to the end customer. IIT graduates Tarun Mehta & Swapnil Jain in 2013. Among the few hundred start-ups in Indian, they have started the Ather Energy in Bangalore to produce India's first electrical scooter. The company is taking a leap in this market, got the funding from
Hero MotoCorp, Tiger Global, and
Fplikat (Sachin and Binny Bansal).
The
Ather Energy is not only aiming to produce the electrical scooter but the smart scooter. Ather's S340 expected to be launch in 2017-2018 in Indian Market. It will come with touch screen dashboard connected to cloud and android phone, with lots of other features. The first look of the scooter will definitely impress the youth. Scooter has Scooter will offer a top speed of 72 Kmph and a one-time charge will go up to 60KM with the latest
Lithium-Ion battery pack.
The nomenclature of Ather S340 refers to S for the Scooter, 3 for the 3KW capacity of the electric motor and 40 for the 40Amp-hour battery capacity. The Linux based dashboard with the 7-inch touch screen that integrates with cloud-based data through a 3G SIM card to enable constant data transfer and updates is the USP for S340 scooter. The smart dashboard will gather the information from different sensors installed in the scooter allow it to send all the information about rider behavior and riding pattern like braking, acceleration, mileage, efficiency to the cloud. This will allow Ather energy to upgrade the dashboard of the scooter over the air due to 24X7 Internet connectivity, without the need to bring the scooter to the manufacturer.
Sale of any scooter in India depends on the price. Ather Energy CEO and Co-founder, Tarun Mehta disclosed the price for the scooter. The expected price is in range of 80,000 to 90,000/- INR (ex-showroom Karnataka).
